Hoop Dreams will be at Rhoda’s Flea Market this Sunday June 11th from around 7am – 1pm sharing information on the event with the community. Hoop Dreams has added a new way for our players to help our cause. We are looking to find out who can raise the most money for the Children’s Wish Foundation with the Top Fundraising Team Challenge! Go to the Registration page and select the Excel or PDF version on the left and you will find a pledge sheet that you can print off at home. Ask your family, your friends, your neighbors, your school or even a group you may be a part of to make a donation towards our cause. The team that raises the most money will be crowned the top fundraising team and will receive an awesome prize pack!

What better way can you get a car wash and support a good cause at the same time? Hoop Dreams needs your help. Come give the car a bath and we’ll throw in lunch for free. Say what? a free hot dog and pop with every car wash purchase all in support of Hoop Dreams – a Children’s Wish Foundation fundraising event. Head to Scholtens on June 24th and show your support!
Hoop Dreams will be holding our annual car wash fundraiser on Saturday June 24th from 10am – 2pm at Scholtens Gas Bar located on Loch Lomond rd. Come the ole car a bath for only $5 and we will include 1 free hotdog and 1 free pop with every purchase of a car wash. All proceeds raised go towards Hoop Dreams 2017, an annual fundraising event in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation.

After a long and vigorous search, Hoop Dreams has officially found a new home. We will be back for the 2017 edition of this spectacular event on Saturday September 30th, 2017 at Exhibition Park located in the event building. This new partnership with EPR will start the growth process for Hoop Dreams offering 8 courts, more team slots, wider age bracket and more space for additional activities for the whole family to enjoy. We are very excited to share with you the huge improvements to this year’s event over the coming weeks. Registrations for Hoop Dreams 2017 will launch very soon. Hoop Dreams is pleased to announce that we have reached a goal in our mission. We had set out to inspire our youth in the city of Saint John to volunteer their time and give back to those in need. It is with great pleasure that we announce Tai Mitchell oldest daughter of Hoop Dreams founder and event organizer Scott Mitchell has started her own of what she plans to be annual fundraiser. Tai organized and launched the first ever Bake for Baskets fundraiser held on March 30th, 2017 at Bayside Middle School. Tai at only age 12 along with several of her 6th grade classmates and one of her teachers put in hours of hard work and dedication to pull off a very successful event raising $263.50. This is a huge accomplishment for this young group of volunteers and a true testament towards our mission to inspire our youth to give back to those in need. The Bake for Baskets crew have generously donated all proceeds towards Hoop Dreams to help with our expense budget for the 2017 event. Tai is very proud to report that she plans to host this as an annual event. WAY TO GO TAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to Hoop Dreams – Thank you for taking the time to visit our brand new website. We are excited to announce our launch and the return of Hoop Dreams to the port city on Saturday September 30th, 2017 at our new home Exhibition Park in the building where Rhoda’s Flea Market is held. With this expansion we growing this event on many levels. We will now have 8 courts instead of 4, we have opened the age limit to ages 8-18 and we will host upwards of 80 teams for this event.
Hoopdreams.ca will be your one stop shop for news and information regarding Hoop Dreams. You can register your team here, make a donation, become a volunteer or drop us a quick line to tell us how we’re doing. This site will also grow in the coming months. We will be offering Hoop Dreams pre-sale merchandise, opportunities for teams to share their challenge to any division to show how they will become a Hoop Dreams champion.
We have also added the opportunity for teams to do some additional fundraising to help out our cause. Through pledges, you can raise some very important funds to children in need of our help. We will have an award for the top fundraising team, so once you register – get out there and show the world why Hoop Dreams is important for these children in need.
As this website begins to take shape, we will keep you informed of our changes. We plan to highlight donors and our volunteers, offer contests and share some of the exciting things that the Children’s Wish Foundation are doing not only with the help of our event but other events supporting the foundation.

On March 31st, 2017 our mission finally came to light where we saw a young future philanthropist follow in our footsteps and help out those in need. Tai Mitchell – Daughter of Hoop Dreams Organizer / Founder Scott Mitchell decided to help old Dad out with his event expenses by developing a fundraiser of her own. Bake for Baskets was born and Tai went straight to work building a crew of caring and helpful classmates to volunteer for the first of what she will plan to host as an annual bake sale to raise funds for the Hoop Dreams event. Tai and the ladies of Bayside Middle School along with one of their favorite teachers successfully raised $263.50 to donate to Hoop Dreams, and we couldn’t be any more grateful for their contribution and their support. Most of all, they got our message – They can help other people at any age through any way they choose and thus started the addiction to giving and philanthropy. We want to congratulate the Bake for Baskets crew: Natalie London, Megan Hanley, Lindsay Moore, Tiffany Lowell, Ellie May, Regan Clark, Oliva Lydon, Victoria Robertson, Emma Coakley, Mme Sylvie Schofield and especially Tai Mitchell for organizing the event and taking on such a high amount of responsibility to lead to it’s success. Great job Tai and everyone involved!!!!

On Saturday March 11th, 2017 we held the first fundraising event for this year’s Hoop Dreams and incorporated hockey into the mix. The first (of now what will be annual) Hoop Dreams 4 on 4 ball hockey fundraiser tournament showcased an amazing day full of talent and some strong competition. At the end of the day, we are proud to announce the winners “The Soup-A-Stars” as our first champions of the event pictured here… with organizer Scott Mitchell. With that said we raised $800 towards Hoop Dreams 2017 which we will add includes a $100 donation from our winning team. Huge thanks goes out to the Soup-A-Stars for their generous donation and all of the teams who participated in this event! Also Huge Thanks goes to Jack Robichaud and the Boys and Girls club for hosting our event, Frankie Bordage and Mike Stuart for officiating and running our clock and Hoop Dreams own Kari Mitchell for handling registrations. Thank You All!!!!!
